DMCA & Copyright Policy

Universe Solver ("we," "us," or "our") respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. This policy describes how we handle copyright infringement claims in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) ("DMCA").

1. Reporting Copyright Infringement

If you believe that content on the Platform infringes your copyright, please send a written notification to our Designated Agent with the following information (all required under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):

1. A physical or electronic signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
2. A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed.
3. A description of the infringing material and its location on the Platform (please provide the specific URL(s)).
4. Your contact information: name, address, telephone number, and email address.
5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

3. Our Response to Valid Notices

Upon receiving a valid DMCA takedown notice, we will:

• Promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material.
• Notify the user who posted the material that it has been removed.
• Provide the user with a copy of the takedown notice (with the claimant's personal contact information redacted as appropriate).

4. Counter-Notification

If you believe your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification to our Designated Agent containing:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
4. Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the United States, for any judicial district in which we may be found).

Upon receiving a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the original claimant and restore the material within 10–14 business days, unless the claimant files a court action.

5. Repeat Infringers

In accordance with the DMCA, we maintain a policy of terminating the accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers in appropriate circumstances. A user who receives three valid DMCA takedown notices may have their account permanently terminated.

6. Publication Archive & Fair Use

The Universe Solver Archive hosts user-uploaded publications under user-selected licenses (e.g., Creative Commons). Users are responsible for ensuring they have the right to upload and distribute their content. We encourage the use of open-access licenses to advance scientific knowledge.

We recognize and respect the fair use doctrine (17 U.S.C. § 107). Content posted for purposes of commentary, criticism, education, or research may be protected under fair use. We evaluate each takedown notice with fair use in mind.

If you are located outside the United States and believe your copyright has been infringed, you may use the same process described above. We will review claims under applicable international copyright treaties, including the Berne Convention and WIPO Copyright Treaty. Please indicate the jurisdiction under which your copyright is registered.
